Geet woke up and was sitting with a frown in her bed not able to decide what she will wear for the dinner. Meera came and saw her sitting in the bed worried. She got tensed seeing her and asked, ”Geet tumhe kya hua? Itni tensed kyun he?” Geet pulled Meera to sit near her and told, ”Meera, mujhe tumhari madat chahiye. Aaj na ek client ke saath mera aur Maan sir ka dinner he. Mujhe samaj mein nahi aa raha ki mein kaunsa dress pehnu.” Meera sighed and told, ”Itni choti si baat keliye tension leke baiti he. Hey bagwan is ladki ka mein kya karu. Hamesha ulta karthi he. Jis cheez keliye tension lena chahiye usse chodke choti choti cheezon par dukhi hoti he.” Geet started whacking her and told, ”ek tho mein tumse madat maang rahi hoon aur tum ho ki meri mazak utarahi he.” After few minutes of nok-jhok Meera selected an elegant pink suit gifted by Arjun.Geet liked it and decided to come home and change after office hours. The day went pretty fine and busy for both without much encounters meanwhile a proposal was going on somewhere else.
Anurag and Mohinder had their joint venture successfully started. After the discussions they both along with Arjun went for lunch. Anurag asked while having lunch, “Mohinder, I wonder how come Geet was not present in both the marriages. I must say she is really nice. I was surprised to see her working as Maan’s secretary. A simple and down to earth girl.” Mohinder was tensed as well as glad that his daughter is being liked by all. Arjun just smiled and told, “Dad woh kisi ki madat nahi lenge. She want to be on her own. Aur jab apne saath nahi hote tho insaan ko strong hona hi chahiye.” Arjun finished more like a taunt towards Mohinder. He understood that and felt guilty that he couldn’t support his own daughter. Anurag unaware of all this asked, “It is sad that her parents passed away. But she is doing good with her career and life even in their absence.”
Mohinder felt a lump in his throat. His daughter couldn’t claim her papa even after being alive. So what difference it makes when people say her father is dead. Rano could have never accepted this if she was there. She was so exited while pregnant with Geet. She always used to tell that she will get a daughter now and will be like her. And it was true, Geet was exactly like her mother. Simple down to earth, kind hearted, honest.. Any adjectives will fall short for her. A lone tear escaped from his eye which didn’t go unnoticed by Arjun. He excused himself and left to washroom. Arjun tried to cover up his silence. He asked, “Dad, how is Vicky? It’s almost a week since I got any call from him.” Anurag was glad at the mention of Vicky and told, “He is doing good. His exams are going on. I have asked him to handle Khurana Industries in London.” Arjun told, “That’s great dad.”
They had some business talks after that and Mohinder too joined soon. Anurag decided to put forward the proposal. He told, “Mohinder, actually I wanted to discuss something. We were thinking of asking Geet’s hand for Vicky if you don’t mind. She is a really nice girl and her character suits Vicky.” Arjun and Mohinder were equally shocked at the sudden proposal. Both didn’t know what to reply. Mohinder told, “Par Geet tho ab London chali jayegi. Aur uske padayi ke baad hi shaadi ke bare mein soch sakthi hoon.” Arjun for the first time agreed with Mohinder on something related to Geet. Both were happy to have Vicky as her husband but were not sure of sending them to KM along with Sameera and Naintara though the concerns were different.
Arjun was concerned about how they will treat Geet. And Mohinder was concerned about the well being of them. He still thought somewhere Geet carried bad luck for the family. Anurag clarified his stand, “Mein tho sirf Geet ko apna bahu banana chahtha hoon. Mujhe pata he ki woh ab kuch hi mahino meinLondonchali jayegi. Tho usko Vicky se milne ka mauka bhi milega. They will get to know each other and when she return after studies if they are ready for the marriage we can proceed with that. After Vicky starts managing KI inLondonhe will prefer to settle down there. SO it will be good for both of them.” Arjun and Mohinder agreed with that as their concerns were addressed and they were more than happy to have Vicky for Geet. They decided the matter to be between them and will disclose once Geet is back from her studies. They left home happily.
It was six in the evening and Geet decided to go home and change. She looked Maan through the blinds and found him busy doing something in the laptop. She wanted to ask him where she need to come but seeing him busy she decided to wait. Most of the staff had left by 6.30. Geet lost her patience and went to his cabin. She knocked and entered his cabin. He looked at her and continued working with the laptop. She cleared her throat. He asked without looking at her, “Geet, kuch kaam tha?” She replied, “Nahi, woh mein..” He spoke without letting her finish, “Kuch kaam nahi tha tho you can take leave. I am quite busy now.” Geet was annoyed by his behavior. She thought, “Mein tho unse dinner ke baare mein poochna chahthi thi aur woh mujhe attitude dikha raha he. Koi baat nahi ek aur baar try karthi hoon.” and told, “Sir, woh mujhe aapse..” again he interrupted her, “Geet I told you I am busy. We can talk later. Now go..” The change in his tone and his denial to listen to her provoked her. She told, “Ok sir, bye, See you tomorrow.” She gave emphasis to the last sentence and left.
While leaving she murmered, “Dinner mein jayegi meri jhooti. Samjthe kya he apne aap ko. Unhe pata he ki mujhe venue nahi pata aur pata hota tho bhi mein akeli kaise jaati.” She stopped murmering and thought, “Kahi mujhe saath lana unhe pasand nahi he tho. Shayad isliye ignore kar raha hoga. Acha hi he. Meeting mein clients ke mann rakhne ko kaha hoga. Ab mera na aane ka koi aur bahana dhoondega. Mein kitni bewakoof thi ki kapde bhi select karke rakhi thi. Challo acha hi hua. Kam se kam Pinky aur Meera ke saath thoda bahut waqt bitha sakthe ho.” She took an auto and left for home.
All the while her mind was quite disturbed with the thought of Maan not wanting to take her along with him. She thought, “Jo bhi woh mere saath kar raha he woh shayad unka infactuation hoga. When he realize that I won’t fit into his world he will leave me. It is better to suppress the feelings I have developed for him. It will leave me nowhere.” A small droplet fell from her eyes. When she reached home Manchanda was about to leave. She rushed and asked him, “Uncleji aap kaha jaa rahe ho? Meera aur Pinky kaha he.” Manchanda told, “Beta mein tumhari intezaar kar rahi thi. Mera ek dosth ki beti ki shaadi he kal. Mein waha ja raha hoon. Sunday ko wapas aayenge. Meera aur Pinky bahar ghoomne gaye he. Tumhari aaj dinner hena. Jake thayyar ho jao. Mein chaltha hoon.” Geet smiled sadly and he left.
Geet was in a foul mood and as she was alone in the home it was adding to her annoyance. She got fresh and changed. Pinky had left a sandwich for her. She munched it and started watching television to distract her mind. But eventually she couldn’t distract herself and immersed herself in the thoughts. She was never a person who took anyone in her life for granted. She knew someday they will be gone. Even though she knew that Arjun, Pinky and Meera will always be there she tried to confine to herself. She wanted to be independent but Meera and Arjun making her more dependent. They were always there for her whenever she needed something. They always helped her to fulfill her earnest desires even though she never asked for it.
After meeting Maan she had opened a part of her heart that she never knew have existed. The need to love and be loved was getting strong with every passing day. But somewhere she feared that he will also leave her one day like her father did. She reasoned to herself that it was wrong to fall for him but she herself didn’t know that she started loving him from their first meeting itself. He had already made his place in her heart. But her fear always tempted her to think negative when it was concerned about love. She was so lost in her thoughts that she haven’t heard the phone ringing continuously. She rested back on the sofa unknowingly dropping the remote in her hand. The sound brought her back from her thoughts and she heard the phone ringing. She stood up to answer it but decided otherwise as she knew if it was Pinky or Meera they would ask for the reason why she haven’t went for dinner and will return immediately without hanging out. She sank back to the sofa and continued watching some music channels.
Maan was busy with his work when he got a call from Mr. Chopra by about 7.30. He reminded him about their dinner at 8.30 and mentioned a change in the venue. Maan cut the call and looked through the blinds. “Oh No.” He held his hair back in frustration. Geet had come to him to ask regarding the dinner and he shouted at her again. “Oh Man, she was angry. Now how I am going to persuade her? ” He dialed to Pinky’s home but no one was picking up the call. He thought Geet might have gone out with them. So he decided to call Pinky. He checked her number from the employees database and called her. Pinky was shopping with Meera while her phone rang. Her eyes popped out seeing the caller. She exclaimed loudly, “DD calling me. Oh my God!!! Meera pinch me. Is it real?” Meera pinched her hard and she winced in pain, “Uf Meera, tumhe tho mein baad mein dekhenge. Let me attend the call.”
Pinky answered the call. Maan told, “Pinky, is Geet with you? Inform her to be there at *** hotel for the dinner by 8.30.” Pinky immediately replied, “Sir, Geet tho ghar pe honge. We thought she might have already left for the dinner.” Maan sighed and told, “Fine. I will pick her up.” and cut the call. Pinky and Meera wondered why she haven’t left yet and brushed off thinking she might be getting ready. Maan thought for a while and started off to Pinky’s home. Geet had dozed off watching the television. The continuous ringing of the calling bell broke her sleep. She thought Pinky and Meera might have returned and went to open the door only to welcome the unexpected guest..
